5 Easy bridal hair ideas
Loose waves
If you love having your hair down and you’re looking for a boho-inspired romantic hairstyle for your big day, why not opt for effortlessly chic loose waves? Perfect if you’re doing your hair yourself, this style only requires a curling tong, heat protectant, and some hairspray. Mist hair with some TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray, then wrap a 2-inch wide section of hair around your curling tong and hold for a few seconds, before letting it drop.
Top tip: The wider the curling barrel the better, as this will create looser waves instead of tight ringlets.
Curl the rest of your hair in the same direction for a neat look. To make your curls look even more natural, gently run your fingers through your waves before spritzing your mane with VO5 Classic Ultimate Hold Hairspray to help hold your style in place all day.
To take this look to the next level, tuck one side of your hair behind your ear, and add a heavily embellished ear cuff like this shot taken by the LostinLove team. Style and sophistication, here you come! Credit: @lostinlove_photography
The messy updo
Want to stun your guests with this elegant messy updo? Although this style may look complicated, we promise it’s not: a relaxed, effortless look is all part of the charm, so don’t worry if your bun isn’t perfect – actually, that’s perfect!
To create this look, first you’ll need to lightly curl your hair to give it some texture and movement. Then backcomb your crown to create some volume near the back of your head. Once you’ve finished, gently brush the hair at your crown backward to smooth it over. Pin it back into a loose quiff, and then gather the back section of your hair into a low ponytail, ensuring that you leave the front side sections free. Create a messy bun with your low ponytail, by wrapping and pinning strands of hair loosely around the base.
Now to finish this elegant bridal hair updo: wrap loose strands of hair from the front sections (that you kept free) around the bun and pin them in place. Once secure, loosen them lightly with your fingers and tease some tendrils around your face, before fixing the whole look in place with some of the VO5 Classic Ultimate Hold Hairspray. The vintage crown
For a classic, vintage-inspired hairstyle, opt for soft waves with a middle parting, decorated with a beautiful embellished headpiece. Start by using a tail comb to part your hair straight down the middle, before spritzing some Toni&Guy Prep Heat Protection Mist on your tresses to protect them against heat damage.
Then lightly curl your hair, ensuring that the front sections near the front are curled outwards away from your face for a flattering effect. To take the look from an everyday style to vintage elegance, place a beaded crown on top of your head. Simple but utterly stunning. Credit: @amyfanton
The romantic chignon
For a romantic, French twist-inspired hairdo, opt for a chic chignon bun. This style works with most hair types, but is easiest to achieve if you have medium to long length hair. To achieve this look, tie your hair into a low ponytail, but leave a 3-4 inch wide section of hair out from either side of your face.
Now, back to the ponytail: just above the hairband, create a small gap between your hair with your fingers, and then loop the tail of your ponytail into this gap, so that it tucks into it, creating a chignon-effect. Secure this in place with a few bobby pins. (Psst! See our step-by-step guide to creating a chignon bun with a different technique).
Next, curl the loose sections of your hair near the front, and gather each side into one piece. Twist each section, before wrapping it around your chignon and pinning it in place. Finish by adding a pretty floral headpiece to the back of your hair for elevated elegance. Credit: @weddingchicks
Glam waves
For a glamorous, Hollywood-inspired hairstyle, look no further than this wavy ‘do. To achieve this look at home, create a deep side part with a tail comb, then spritz your hair with the Toni&Guy Prep Heat Protection Mist. Curl your hair tightly with a narrow curling wand, ensuring that your curls all face the same way: this will help you emulate that classic Hollywood glam vibe.
Once cooled, brush through your curls with a natural-bristled brush to loosen the ringlets, and then set your marital mane with some hairspray. To up the ante, tuck your tresses behind your ear on the shallowest side and place a sparkly hair accessory just behind. Easy, glamorous hair, here you come! Credit: @lee4you
