How to flat iron hair

1

Protect.

Before you start straightening your hair, it’s important to prep your strands with a good heat protectant.

Try the TRESemmé Biotin+ Repair 7 Primer Protection Spray, which helps to protect your hair from 7 types of styling damage, including damage done through heated tools!

2

Section hair.

Take a diagonal section of hair from your ear to the nape of your neck. This will help maintain volume and ensure your roots don’t fall flat.

The size of the section will depend on your hair density but be careful not to make them too big, as this will result in insufficient straightening

Straighten first section.

Place a fine-tooth comb under the straightener from the roots and slowly move down the hair shaft.

Why a fine-tooth comb? Because this will allow smooth, detangled sections of hair to be fed into the flat iron, giving a sleeker end result.

Continue to straighten.

Continue to straighten your hair in diagonal sections until the entire head is complete.

5

Tame flyaways.

Now you’ve fully straightened all your hair, you can tackle and frizz or flyaways.

Reach for the TONI&GUY Shine Gloss Serum to control frizz and add shine. Rub 1-2 pumps of serum between fingers and work through the ends of dry hair, avoiding the roots.

Set in place.

Straightening, done. Flyaways, gone. Now it’s time to set it all in place!

For holding straight styles all day, we go for the TONI&GUY Flawless Sleek Hairspray. With a medium hold it allows for body and movement with a touchable finish.

What’s your hair type? “It’s naturally quite wavy and thick. It can be difficult to manage but since I cut it shorter it’s definitely been easier to style.”

What are your go-to hair products? “I always use a serum on the ends because I’ve got really dry hair and a heat protectant.”

Do you have any daily hair struggles? “It can go frizzy very easily and usually doesn’t hold a style for too long. It can be unpredictable, some days it does what I want, others – not so much!”

What’s your signature look for day and night? “Very undone, straight or in a loose ponytail.”

Tell us one piece of hair advice you would give to someone with hair like you… “Keep your hair as nourished as possible, add a mask to your routine if you can. Your hair will thank you!”
