If you’re anything like us, you probably spend most of your free time trawling through social media in search of the hottest styles and latest hair trends. So we’re guessing that you’ve probably heard of the latest craze taking Instagram by storm: the ‘bun drop’.

If you haven’t, then you’re seriously missing out. This bizarre hair trend is huge on social platforms right now, and all it involves is a short clip of women with (really) long hair releasing their tresses from a bun. We know: it sounds weird, but it’s oddly mesmerising!

Don’t get us wrong, we know this hair trend (if you can even call it that!) is a little baffling, but we kind of wanted to give it a try and see what happens – you know, just for fun! So naturally, I (ever the willing guinea pig for all sorts of hair trials) valiantly rose to the bun drop challenge. Here’s what happened when I became an A-class bun dropper…

We take on the bun drop challenge

I have long, brown hair, so to bun drop, all I had to do was simply gather my mane into a high ponytail and twisted it into a bun shape. Then, I stuck a pencil through the simple updo to temporarily secure it in place. When I was ready to bun drop, I just pulled the pencil out and let gravity do the rest!

So what do you think? Did my bun-dropping skills make the grade?
