Centre-parting

Contrary to popular belief, a centre-parting is super flattering when paired with long hair (Kourtney Kardashian, we’re looking at you). But to avoid looking like you’re part of The Addam’s Family, and to truly pull off this chic look, you’ll need to ensure that you’re hair is extra voluminous!

To do this, we suggest using some VO5 Volume Extra Body Mousse before blow-drying. Trust us, it’ll instantly take your mane from zero to hero.

Long layers

Many people with long hair often get talked into chopping in some short layers by their stylist. But that’s not the only layering option you have to hand – we’re here to tell you that working in some lovely long layers to your locks can also work a treat!

If you want to keep the thickness and length of your hair, opting for long layers will help to create some body and movement, without making your mane look too choppy.

A long fringe

Having super long locks can throw the proportions of your look out of whack, so try balancing out the length of long hair with some stylish bangs. If you have quite thick hair, opt for some lighter bangs by asking your stylist to chop some layers into your fringe.

However, if you have thinner hair, try making them less choppy as to not draw attention to your tresses fineness. Whatever decision you make, just remember to opt for a long fringe, as opposed to a short one, to ensure the length is properly balanced.

So, if you really want to give your hair some added va va voom, opt for a hue that will leave your mane with a beautiful glossy sheen. No one will dare accuse you of being a boring brunette with glistening locks like these!

And the best thing is, there are so many shades to choose from – be it auburn, amber, ronze or mahogany, these reddish hues are practically made for long hair!

Babylights

While highlights generally work on all hair lengths, we think that they look especially great on long hair. Why? Well, because when highlighted hair is styled into long braids, or half-up, half-down hairstyles, the multi-tones really start to pop!

So, to really stand out from the crowd, we recommend opting for babylights, which is a technique that places the lighter sections of hair closer together, so they look super fine and natural.

Editor’s tip: If you’re tempted to try one of these colours in your long locks, then remember to swap your usual shampoo and conditioner for one specially formulated for colour-treated hair. We’d recommend using the TRESemmé Colour Revitalise Colour Vibrance Protection Shampoo and Conditioner to help maintain your hue’s vibrancy for longer.
