Loose, effortless-looking plait

For the European premiere of Suicide Squad, held in London’s Leicester Square, Margot Robbie opted to style her blonde hair in a thick plait which fell elegantly, yet effortlessly down her back. Her plait was super loose, starting from her shoulders for a more casual (rather than polished) look. Her hair had been curled before braiding to further accentuate its laid-back vibes.
To recreate this look:

  1. Curl your hair with a large-barrel curling tong, like the Toni&Guy Glamour Jumbo Tong. (Remember: the bigger the tong, the looser the curls!)

2. Gather your hair at the back of your head and separate it into 3 equal sections. Starting half-way down, loosely plait your hair following the traditional 3-strand braiding technique.

3. Secure with a hairband that contrasts with the colour of your hair (as Margot has done) for an effortless, nonchalant outcome.

Side braid and beachy waves

Margot rocked this summer-worthy hairstyle while in Miami and we’re totally in love with it. She paired her holiday-inspired beachy waves with two pretty braids, which helped elevate her look from poolside-perfect to red carpet-ready.
To recreate this look:

  1. Prep by spritzing your hair with some TRESemmé Heat Defence Spray (300ml, £4.99*).

2. Create a deep side parting, then use a curling wand to create your beachy waves.

3. Section some hair from either side of your temples, clipping one side away for now. Then, starting with the other side, begin Dutch-braiding your hair, working backwards until you reach the middle of your crown and secure with an elastic band.

4. Repeat step 3 on the other section of hair that you previously clipped away.

5. Finish with a spritz of VO5 Classic Styling Ultimate Hold Hairspray (400ml, £3.29*) to help keep your waves and braids in place.

Crimped updo

For the premiere of her film The Legend Of Tarzan, the actress opted for an unusual crimped updo. Her hair was parted in the middle and styled into a classic low bun. And let’s not forget those delicate, wispy tendrils that were left loose round the front, adding a whimsical feel to the finished look.
To recreate this look:

  1. Start by creating a centre parting.

2. Working your way around your head, use the Toni&Guy Glamour Deep Waver to create the effect of crimped hair.

3. Once all of your hair is crimped, tie it back into a low bun, securing with some bobby pins for extra grip.

4. Pull a few loose tendrils free from the front to frame your face and finish with a spritz of VO5 Ultimate Hold Hairspray – and you’re good to go!

Dramatic ponytail

While she’s often seen wearing her hair down, Margot can also effortlessly pull off a ponytail, too. Just check out this dramatic, voluminous pony for proof! And if she can do it, so can you!
To recreate this look:

  1. Section a 3 inch-wide portion of hair on top of your head, and French braid it until you reach the back of your crown. Then secure the end with a small, clear elastic hair tie.

2. Using a comb, sweep back the hair on either side of your temples into a high ponytail.

3. Spritz the tail of your pony with TIGI Bed Head Oh Bee Hive! Dry Shampoo (£14.50*) to add grip and texture before backcombing it for added volume.

4. Take an inch-wide section of hair and wrap it around the base of your pony to hide the hairband. Secure this piece of hair in place underneath your ponytail with 2 criss-crossed bobby pins.

Cool-girl low bun

Don’t have the time to style your hair in the mornings, but still want to wear a hairstyle that’ll make you look uber chic? Draw inspiration from Margot Robbie’s cool-girl low bun. This look can be done in under a minutes and looks just as good as any highly stylised ‘do.

To recreate this look:

  1. Brush your hair to remove any knots and tangles.

2. Gather your hair into a low, loose ponytail. When securing your ponytail with a hairband, don’t pull your hair the whole way through the hairband the last time you loop it through, instead, leave it tucked halfway in to create a loose-looking low bun.

3. Pull some hair free from around your face for a perfectly undone look.
