Twist updo: Tutorial 1

1

Create parting.

Start by creating a side parting using the tip of your comb. Then create two sections of hair at the front, using hair clips to help keep them sectioned off.

Create a half-up ponytail.

Next, divide the larger section of hair into two and create a half-up ponytail, securing it with a hairband.

Repeat this process on the other side.

Then using your hands, roughly divide your hair evenly into two sections.

Twist hair.

Starting with the left-hand side divide your section of hair into two parts and twist to create a rope braid. When you get to the end of your braid, secure the end of the braid with a clear elastic band.

Create your twist updo.

Wrap and twist your rope twist around your hand, then pin. Repeat on the other side to create a twisted bun.

Release the two sections of hair that we clipped out of the way at the beginning of the tutorial and split each section into two, to create a simple twist. Draw the twist towards the back of your head and discreetly pin above your twisted bun.

1

Prep.

Before you start this simple updo, wash your hair with the Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo (400ml, £3.69*) and the Dove Intensive Repair Conditioner (350ml, £3.69*). This wash and care system moisturises, conditions and helps to restore your hair’s strength against breakage. Not to mention it’s a great treatment for nourishing dry, damaged hair. Once your hair is clean, apply the VO5 Smoothly Does It Frizz Free Crème (£3.99*) to your mid lengths and ends to help smooth frizz-prone tresses.
