In honour of Taylor Swift’s rumoured upcoming sixth album release (eek!), we’ve decided to take a little trip down memory lane and look back over some of the star’s most iconic hairstyles to date.
It’s hard to believe, but it’s now been over a decade since the Shake It Off singer released her first self-titled album back in 2006, so naturally we’ve witnessed a number of exciting hair transformations from her over the years.

6 of Taylor Swift’s most memorable hair highlights
Country curls in 2006
Any long-term Swifties out there will know that when teen Taylor first burst onto the scene in 2006, she was rarely spotted without her trademark blonde spiral curls.
And while the global phenomenon has played around with plenty of different styles since, she often reverts back to her trusty, go-to curls.
Editor’s tip: If your hair is naturally curly like Taylor’s but you struggle to keep it under control, have you tried using an oil? The Toni&Guy Curl Lock Oil is ideal for coiled strands as it hydrates and smooths frizz, making your curls beautifully defined and much more manageable.
Sleek chignon in 2008
Taylor without her signature curls?! Shocking, we know, but in 2008 TayTay proved she was already red carpet royalty with this sleek and straight chignon updo. She must have liked it, too, as this wasn’t to be the last time we would see her with straightened locks…
Bold bangs in 2010
Continuing her straight hair obsession, Taylor caused jaws to drop at the 2010 American Music Awards when she stepped out with a freshly-trimmed set of bold bangs!
Her full, long fringe (paired with a sultry smokey eye) made for a feline, feminine vibe with a tough, grunge edge, shaking off her cutesy country singer image.
Long bob in 2014
Clearly struck by the hair cutting bug, Taylor took her hair journey one step further in 2014 when she debuted an on-trend lob-length cut! This would prove to be the beginning of a love affair with short hair, as she didn’t stop there.
Shaggy mullet in 2015
Taylor looked to David Bowie as her hair inspiration for an appearance in 2015, adding layers to her medium hair for a modern, mullet effect, similar to the shag haircut craze we’re seeing right now.
Editor’s tip: Loving Taylor’s layered look? If you do decide to go for a similar style, we recommend picking up a plumping powder, such as the VO5 Instant Volume Powder, to sprinkle into your roots. This will help to fluff up your layers to give you that authentic mullet result.
Platinum bob in 2016
While Taylor has experimented with endless hairstyles over the years, her hair colour has pretty much remained the same California-blonde shade forever. Which is why it came as even more of a shock when she revealed a brand new bright, platinum blonde hue last year!
The bold colour instantly took her look from girl-next-door to style icon and proved that she’s not one to shy away from trying something new.
