6 cool hairstyles to make the most of the statement earring trend
If you've got it, flaunt it! Make the most of statement earrings with these stunning hairstyles.
Statement earrings have always been popular, but this year the trend has become totally stratospheric! Just look in any high street store and you’ll see stand-out earrings in every colour imaginable from wall to wall.
However, it’s tricky knowing how to get the balance right between making your earrings the focal point of your look, without having to settle for ‘blah‘ hair. So, to help you out, we’ve dug out some of the best earring-friendly styles from Instagram to help inspire. Long live the tassel earrings, we say!
Hairstyles to wear with your favourite statement earrings
1. Messy bun
Of course, the best way to ensure your earrings are in the spotlight is to sweep all of your hair up. But, to balance out super fancy earrings like these ones, try opting for more of an intentionally dishevelled style as this will contrast with the fanciness of the jewellery for an effortless feel.

Editor’s tip: We recommend prepping your hair with a texturising product to create the perfect messy bun. The VO5 Texturising Sea Salt Spray is a light, clear spray which adds texture and wave to the hair.
Plus, it’ll give your look a more lived-in, gritty texture rather than it looking like you’ve tried too hard.
2. Half-up power pony
Prefer to wear your hair down? Half-up half-down styles are the perfect compromise as you get the best of both worlds, detail up top as well as having your comfort blanket of flowing lengths too.

3. Side parted pony
Ponytails are super simple, yes, but that doesn’t mean they can’t look stylish too. Try playing around with your parting by taking inspiration from this deep side parted look, tucking your hair behind your ears for maximum earring attention, ofc. Credit: @catia.vanilla
4. Sleek bun
Slick, wet-look buns are a great one to consider if you find messy buns too casual and you still want to look put together. This perfectly pristine style is super versatile, so if you’re heading straight from work to dinner or drinks, all you have to do is pop in your earrings and you’re ready to slay. Credit: @shevybolts
Editor’s tip: Remember we want our hair to look sleek, not greasy, so opt for a shine spray over thicker gel formulas. The TIGI Catwalk Camera Ready Shine Spray will add a shimmering sheen while also providing a little hold, (but most importantly won’t leave you looking like you’ve just got out the shower with wet hair).
5. Milkmaid braid
Come on, who doesn’t love a good braid? We certainly do, and milkmaid braids are great when you’re strapped for time.
It looks super impressive so you’d be forgiven for thinking this style is hard to do, but actually it isn’t at all. Milkmaid braids are basically just 2 pigtail braids clipped up on top of the head, so if you can do a regular 3 strand braid you’ll have no trouble creating this romantic style. Ooh la la! 6. Pineapple updo
Natural hair? If your earrings are getting hidden by your gorgeous curls, this fruity pineapple ‘do is destined for you. It’s a great way to keep your curls under control and as a low manipulation style, it’ll help you protect your strands while also allowing you to show off your fab earrings. Credit: @asmuliu
Editor’s tip: Keep your curls hydrated throughout the day with a misting of the TRESemmé Botanique Nourish & Replenish Hydrating Mist. The formula is infused with nourishing properties and it’ll also help to make your hair more manageable and tangle-free.
