Golden blonde hair hues and how to wear them: Our edit of the top shades to try

Your golden hair is about to go from blah to ta-da!

Here at All Things Hair HQ, we’ve seen our fair share of fabulous hair colours. Yet while we love each and every one of them in their own right, we do have a confession to make: there’s nothing quite like golden blonde hair.

From those with cooler undertones to slightly deeper shades of gold, shimmering golden locks have become a red carpet staple – and they can all be yours IRL!

So, to have you ready for your close up, we’ve taken the liberty of pulling together an edit of the most breathtaking golden blonde hues around, that just so happen to be oh-so wearable!

Golden hair hues: 12 shimmering shades and how to style them

To kick things off, we have this gorgeous golden blonde shade worn in an ombre technique. Starting dark at the roots, the classic golden hues have been applied from the mid-lengths to ends, seamlessly melting into one another.

Opt to wear with some textured beachy waves or more uniform curls, and you’ve got yourself a colour that will take you between seasons with ease!

Editor’s tip: Spray the VO5 Texturising Sea Salt Spray generously all over your damp mane and twist your hair up into a bun while it dries. Then simply undo it once dried and watch as your heatless waves tumble down your back.

If you’re after something that can be worn year round, make like this model and get a colour with light brunette undertones. The golden blonde hues will still shine through, just in a more natural manner!

Tip: For those with long locks, a great way to work a golden blonde hair is with a waterfall of tumbling, Hollywood waves, that you can easily create with the help of a large-barrel curling iron.

3.

For a less obvious colour change this season, work your golden blonde hair colour with yellow undertones. This is the ideal hue for those with natural mousy brown hair, as it will add depth and dimension with a sun-kissed finish.

As for styling, a classic bob looks perfect both on the beach and in the city, plus it has the added advantage of being fuss-free and easy to style.

Editor’s tip: When you’re on vacay, channel a more relaxed look by spraying some TONI&GUY Tousled Texture Creation Hairspray to create an effortlessly soft, tousled look – it’s the perfect accompaniment to your fave bikini!

Are you a blondie through and through? Then enhance your base colour with golden tones from root to tip, for a truly model-worthy look.

Just put your hair into a high messy bun, securing it in place with bobby pins for an off-duty vibe, and dress it up by wrapping a pretty printed scarf over the top of your head. It will help keep your style game on-point and safe from the elements.

An easy way to up brunette tresses is with a set of golden highlights, worn in streaks throughout your mane. The ideal style for golden highlights? Beautiful braids, of course!

Try out different versions: a classic French braid looks polished and elegant; a messy side plait adds a romantic touch; and a milkmaid braid lends a pretty bohemian look. Get weaving and have braids for days.

6.

For a more contrasting look, shake up your dark hair with a golden hair colour that is applied only to the top layers of your strands. This way, your natural hue will still be visible underneath, but with the lighter shade on top adding tonnes of depth.

Transform your tresses into romantic locks, with the easy yet stunning style, above. Simply take sections of your hair and twist, then secure in place with bobby pins.

Next, wrap the rest of your hair around until it forms a low tousled bun. Use grips to style and a good spritz of hairspray to keep your locks where they should be. Credit: @momo_joondalup

Torn between golden locks and icy ones? Why compromise? Get both worked in for a ‘do that’s both warm and cool! Then all you have to do is curl those fierce tresses and pull into a half-up hairstyle. Sorted! Credit: @hmuaheatherr

Editor’s tip: Ensure you stay golden for longer by switching to a wash and care duo specially formulated for blonde hair. We suggest trying the TIGI Catwalk Fashionista Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner to help avoid any annoying brassy tones peeking through and to keep you at your blondie best.

Featuring ultra bright blond tones and a few well-placed subtle brunette ones, this is a hair colour that can take you anywhere you please. Be it a fancy soiree or wedding, or even a fun festival with some low double buns.

If the latter situation is where you’re heading, simply twist two sections of your hair until they meet at the back and then keep twisting until you form two cute buns. Secure with grips or hairbands et voila: you’ve got an adorable style in minutes! Credit: @danie_cole
